KFAI (Minneapolis) features Conversations with Al McFarlane each Monday from 11am noon, a locally produced show with local leaders, students and musicians from the metro African American community. Democracy Now airs each weekday from 5am 6am. Hurakan Caribe features Caribbean Music and news, airs 1-3pm each Tuesday. African Rhythms airs 1 -3pm each Thursday. Radio Antilles airs each Friday from 1-3pm.Focus on Africa airs each Sunday from 7-8pm. Eritrean Community airs each Sunday from 6 -7pm. KMOJ, (Minneapolis) features 24 hour African American programming. KMOJ is the Heart and Soul of the Twin Cities, now it its 29th year of serving the Urban market. KBEM, (Minneapolis) Since 1970, Jazz88 KBEM has served the Twin Cities as the unique “voice” for Jazz and Education, broadcasting at 88.5 FM. KBEM is licensed to the Minneapolis Public Schools Board of Education. Since its inception in the mid 1960’s as an innovative curriculum-based school program located at Minneapolis Vocational High School and then North Community High School, KBEM has become recognized as the Twin Cities public radio voice for Jazz and Education. Minneapolis North High School and other district students work with teachers and broadcast professionals to present jazz in depth over the station.

In addition, embracing the metro area’s need for a consistent source of traffic information, KBEM is the exclusive source for traffic reports broadcast live every 10 minutes from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/Dot) Traffic Management Center in Roseville. KBEM's audience is fiercely loyal to the student program with 34% diversity in audience composition (21% African American, 13% Latino). KBEM originates "Brisas Latinas", a hugely popular latin music program heard each Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. LISTEN LIVE

KVSC (St. Cloud) African American programming:

  • Wednesday nights 7-10pm "A Whole Lotta Blues" features all genres of blues, from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago style blues--the program has a 20 year history.
  • Thursdays 7-11pm "On The One (funk/r&b)" and "Urban Invasion (hip-hop/rap/ socially conscious!").
  • Saturdays 2-4pm "Neighborhoods of the World" features global music with an emphasis on African nations.
  • Sundays 9am-12noon "Thriving on a Riff Jazz Show" three hours of traditional, avant- garde, be-bop, and classic jazz. Features live interviews with touring musicians. LISTEN LIVE

KQAL (Winona) In Black America airs Thursdays at 1pm and rebroadcast Saturdays at 1pm. World of Possibilities is a locally produced show by Winona students engaging in music, phone calls, conversations, interviews with Black newsmakers in Minnesota.
